It was explored by the French (1743-44); the discovery of gold (1867) caused a large influx of population and numerous uprisings of Indians, which were definitively tamed in 1879. The territory of the Wyoming was established in 1868 and the following year the vote was granted to women. The annexation to the Union as a state took place in 1890.

The capital city of Wyoming is Cheyenne, located in the southeastern corner of the state. The city lies along Interstate 80 and the Union Pacific Railroad, and is often referred to as “The Magic City of the Plains”. Cheyenne has a long and unique history that dates back to its founding in 1867.

At the time of its founding, Cheyenne was a small frontier town with a population of only 500 people. Today, it is one of Wyoming’s largest cities with a population of over 60,000 people. The city was named after the Native American Cheyenne tribe who had been living in this area before white settlers arrived.

Cheyenne has many attractions that bring visitors from all over the country every year. Visitors can explore historic sites such as Fort D.A. Russell or visit one of its many museums like the Wyoming State Museum or Terry Bison Ranch Resort & Adventure Park. The city also offers plenty of outdoor activities such as fishing, hunting, camping, hiking and mountain biking in its surrounding areas like Curt Gowdy State Park or Medicine Bow National Forest.

Cheyenne also offers some great shopping opportunities such as Frontier Mall or downtown boutiques like Wild West Mercantile Co., which specializes in western wear and other old-time items. Additionally, there are plenty of restaurants serving up traditional American dishes as well as international cuisine for those looking for something more exotic.

Overall, Cheyenne is an exciting place to visit due to its rich history and diverse attractions ranging from historical sites to outdoor recreation activities and shopping opportunities. With so much to offer, it’s no wonder why this vibrant city is known as “The Magic City of the Plains.
