The climate in Oklahoma varies greatly due to its location in both a humid subtropical region as well as a semi-arid steppe climate zone. Summers are hot with temperatures often reaching into the 100s while winters are cold with temperatures dipping into the 20s or lower at times. Tornadoes are common throughout much of Oklahoma during springtime due to its location in Tornado Alley.
