Nevada has several nicknames including Silver State due to its abundance of silver deposits; Sagebrush State for its widespread growth of sagebrush; Battle Born State after it became a state during America’s Civil War; The Sage Hen State from its official state bird; and The Divorce State because at one time it had easier divorce laws than other states (although these laws have since been changed).
