Delaware State Overview

Federated state of the USA (5,059 km 2 with 864,764 inhabitants in 2007). Capital Dover. It includes the eastern section of the peninsula that looms between the bays Chesapeake and Delaware: a vast coastal plain of recent sedimentation. The economy is heavily outsourced; the main industrial activities are developed in the agri-food, chemical and mechanical sectors (the main industrial center is Wilmington). Agriculture, which has reached very high levels of mechanization, is mainly focused on the production of corn and soy. Seaside tourism is developed.

One of the 13 original states of the North American Confederation. Colonized by the Dutch (1623) and by the Swedes (1638), it passed (1664) into the hands of the English, remaining united to the Pennsylvania. With the war of independence it organized itself into a state (1776); during the Civil War he remained loyal to the Union.

The capital city of Delaware is Dover. It is a small city located in the center of the state and is home to around 37,000 people. Dover is known for its historical buildings, including Legislative Hall and the Old State House, as well as its many parks and outdoor recreation areas. The city also boasts several museums, such as the Delaware State Museum, the Air Mobility Command Museum, and the Johnson Victrola Museum.
