The interest for Hardy cell phones has been growing, but now comes something close to the ultimate craftsman’s phone.
Bullit Mobile has created the innards of the new Cat B15 smartphone that has a shell designed by Caterpillar, there also is a logo for the new phone.
Let’s just say it now: the design is very robust to look at, and maybe even a little too much.
The box is constructed of aluminum and rubber, and can withstand a fall of 1.8 meters and tolerate lying under one meter of water for up ten 30 minutes.
Cat B15 runs Android version 4.1 Jelly Bean, have 1 GHz Cortex A9 processor, 512 MB RAM, 5 megapixel camera and a 4 inch screen that can be operated with wet fingers.
“We believe very much that Cat-phones will drive growth and increase the popularity of the under-serviced, global market for Hardy appliances, and our ambition is to be the number 1 globally by 2015, when it comes to tough phones,” says Dave Floyd, Director of Technology at Bullitt Mobile Ltd.
Cat B15 will be in retail stores from March 2013 – the Danish price is not yet known, but the device will get an indicative European price of 329 euros.
